Guide to different MSP company types

As a service provider, you may identify with a specific type rather than the standard Managed Service Provider (MSP). Channel Program recognizes several distinct MSP company types for your selection.

Currently, there are six (6) identified service provider types, each of which can access the same features and functions, with two exceptions: MSP Customers and Franchise/Affiliate Corporations. These two categories have unique features tailored specifically to their profiles.

Available Service Provider types

  1. MSP (Managed Service Provider): Offers a range of managed IT services, including network, application, infrastructure, and security management.
  2. MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider): Specializes in providing managed security services such as threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  3. Franchise/Affiliate MSP: Operates under a larger brand or corporate structure, offering managed services with the backing of a franchisor or affiliate organization.
  4. Individual: Represents independent consultants or solo practitioners who provide managed services on their own.
  5. VAR (Value Added Reseller): Resells hardware and software products, often adding value through additional services like installation, customization, and training.

Types assigned by Channel Program

These types are not available for user selection and are assigned directly by Channel Program.

  1. MSP Customer: This category is designated for customers who receive managed services rather than providing them.
  2. Franchise/Affiliate Corp: Assigned to the corporate entities that oversee the franchise or affiliate MSPs, providing them with additional support and resources.
